New from Dufex: die cut pyramex and decoupage, toppers, large cards

Lots of new Dufex goodies are in store at Foil Play, including new everyday die cut decoupage designs, die cut pyramex and floral shimmer cascades.

All of the new decoupage and pyramex sheets are die cut, no scissors or cutting are required - all you have to do is pop out the shapes and layer them up with foam pads or silicone adhesive to create stunning toppers for your card and craft projects.

The new die cut decoupage designs are motorsports (pictured above), ballet dancers, romantic bears with roses and flowers in jugs.
There are four new die cut pyramex designs: Christening (pictured above), new baby, wedding and Easter. Pop out all the different sized shapes of the image, then layer them on top of each other with foam pads, starting with the largest at the base and the smallest at the top, to create a 3D pyramid effect. Each sheet contains a diagram showing how to position the pyramid layers.
There are eight beautiful designs in the new range of die cut Floral Shimmer Cascades, which bring a new look to decoupage. They have been produced using an innovative new technique which creates a shimmering foil effect on selected areas of the design. This series of colourful photographic floral images have been specially selected for these sheets to complement the Dufex Shimmer effect. These can be used to create beautiful pyramid style decoupage pictures in a variety of different shapes. The decoupage elements have been die cut, with all layers both colour coded and numbered.
There are lots of new individual toppers, including larger designs. The large toppers can either be used as the centrepiece for a large card or for traditional 3D decoupage if you purchase several prints.

Also new, a selection of special purchase greetings cards, printed on 360gsm Dufex material and pre-scored. Cards are slightly smaller than A5 when folded, each stunning card has the beautiful Dufex engraved finish. These can be used as greetings cards, with no further finishing needed, alternatively the front of the card could be used as a topper.
I have stocked up on existing Dufex designs too, where available, as Dufex are discontinuing some designs, particularly traditional, non die cut decoupage designs.

If you are looking for a bargain, traditional Dufex decoupage sheets are on special offer at 79p a sheet at Foil Play at present, with selected designs reduced to 49p. Many A4 topper and texture sheets have been reduced to 49p too - the motif topper sheets are particularly good value as you can make many cards from one A4 sheet.

Harley Davidson card using Kanban Dream Machine concept card kit

I made this motorbike themed card using elements from a Kanban Concept Card kit. For the base card, I used a 10 x 8 inch card and covered it with a dark blue, slightly distressed looking K & Co paper.

I embossed some silver mirri card with birthday messages, using a cuttlebug folder. I then mounted the largest topper and a greetings topper from the Concept Card kit onto the co-ordinating leather effect cardstock with self adhesive foam pads. To stop these blending too much into the background paper, I inked the edges with a silver ink pad.

I finished the card by decoupaging and mounting the wings and speedometer design elements from the topper sheet.
The Kanban Concept Card kit that I used is pictured above. The kit contains a foiled, die cut sheet, a co-ordinating sheet of leather effect card and two envelopes.

Autumn card with foiled leaves

I enjoyed making this Autumn themed card for a card swap on the Craft Telly forum.

The base card that I used is a large 8 x 6 inch card, covered with a sheet of leaf patterned paper from a DCWV photo images pad and co-ordinating ribbon. I mounted a clear sentiment sticker onto mats cut using labels nestabilities dies, for the centre of the card.

I took another sheet of larger leaf images from the same DCWV pad, and traced around the edges of four leaves with a Sakura Quickie glue pen, I also traced some of the vein patterns in the leaves.

When the glue had dried, I foiled the leaves by pressing rub on foil (shiny side up) onto the glue, rubbing over it, then lifting off. I used a different foil on each leaf - red, copper, gold and matt gold. I then decoupaged the leaves, and mounted them using self-adhesive foam pads. I used the Sakura Quickie glue pen again to secure the stems, which are very narrow.

The Birds of Paradise collection has a selection of gorgeous and classy monochrome foiled toppers, sentiments and co-ordinating cardstock.

As always, at Foil Play you can pick and choose the designs that you like and will actually use, rather than investing in a huge kit. If you already have a kit, you might like to stock up on a few extra of the designs you particularly like.

Sympathy card using picture peel off

My friend made this sympathy card, after the death of his friend and work colleague, who was an HGV driver.

The silver picture peel off sticker has been placed on silver mirri card, decoupaged and mounted onto a blue mat with foam pads. A greetings peel off has been added to a matching mat and both mats have been fixed to silver pearl card using plain metallic brads. The silver card was then mounted onto an A5 card, made from an A4 sheet of silver moondust card, folded in two.
The Starform peel off sticker sheet used to make the card is pictured above.

Elegant lady cards using Hunkydory Gorgeous Gingham die cut topper sheet

As you can probably tell, I do like these elegant lady topper sheets from Hunkydory - here's another selection of cards made using them.

I used the largest topper from the sheet on the 8 x 10" card above, with a backing of Basic Grey paper. I mounted both picture and greetings toppers with self adhesive foam. The card has been finished with a strip of white velvet effect ribbon and a large black and white flower, with a jewel brad centre. I had just enough of the same paper to also cover the 6 x 4" card below. I mounted the topper onto mats made with rectangular nestabilities dies, then added a good sprinkling of grey, pearl and black Kanban Pearl gems to the background paper.
The card below is an A5 card, made from an A4 piece of black card, folded in two. The topper has been layered onto mats made with rectangular nestabilities, then onto black textured handmade paper (unfortunately this hasn't shown up well in the picture) and silver self adhesive paper. The card has been finished off with a black velvet ribbon strip and a grey flower with tiny gem brad centre.
I've used half of the tag from the topper sheet for the card below, with a Kanban Bling gem over the silver dot. Again, I've used nesties for the matting, and some co-ordinating handmade paper, onto a blue A6 card, with a Card Art greetings banner.
The card below mixes silver and gold, which both feature in the handmade paper used as the largest mat on the card. The card is A5, made from an A4 sheet of gold moondust card folded in half. The topper has been mounted onto a mat cut from gold mirri card using a scalloped square nestabilities die, and I added a strip of gold ribbon at the bottom of the card.
The foiled and die cut Hunkydory topper sheet that I used to make the cards is pictured below. Each topper sheet contains a selection of picture and greetings toppers for your card craft projects, so you can make several cards from each sheet. Toppers can be matted and layered or mounted with foam pads or silicone adhesive for extra dimension.
Foil Play stocks a wide range of goodies from Hunkydory, to help you to create beautiful cards, including die cut and traditional decoupage, die cut toppers, rubber stamps and more. If the name isn't familiar, you will probably have seen Hunkydory products on the Create & Craft TV shopping channel, presented by Cardcraft Plus.

Christening card made with Smiley Bears decoupage

I made this Christening card using Smiley Bears decoupage and toning background sheet. I also added a strip of co-ordinating ribbon, under the greeting.

This particular sheet of Smiley Bears decoupage is designed for larger cards, I think the topper fits very nicely onto the A5 card that I used. The co-ordinating greeting is from the decoupage sheet, and I used another from the sheet on the inside of the card.

I layered the bears up using mostly silicone adhesive, as I found it easier to manoeuvre the layers into position using this. However, I did also use a few tiny foam pads to add some of the smaller and detailed decoupage elements.
The Smiley Bears decoupage sheet and co-ordinating background sheet that I used to make this card are pictured above. Foil Play has a wide selection of Smiley Bears sheets, including traditional and die cut decoupage, stackerz, invertage and die co-ordinating design elements, along with other Doolicraft designs which you may have seen on Create & Craft TV: Furry Friends, Tumble Ted & Tizzy and Fat Cat & Co.
